Well, here
goes nothing. This blog is going to be about the effects used in cinema, as well
as what is used in theatre every now and then. I have a game plan that I would
like to start with and hopefully stick to. Here it is. Each week I will start
by watching a movie or play/musical, get on the one and only lovely Blogger,
and tell you about what went down with the effects I found intriguing.
Some weeks I
may have a post on how to accomplish getting a makeup effect to look like it
does in a certain scene. Other posts could be about how a certain action scene
is filled with however many technical effects that accomplish whatever the
director is trying to get across to their viewer. For instance, an explosion
can happen so many different ways in a movie. After I watched it, I would look
up how to do that specific type of explosion and why I would use it in one
scene over another (comparing and contrasting), or why it provoked a certain
reaction from people.
Along with
reactions people may have to an effect, I was planning on having people watch
an effect compared to another and then have that to back up why that effect was
used. This blog will have a lot of facts and how-tos on ways to do certain
things for a COMMON person so that
it’s not this fancy instruction manual that no one can understand. Therefore, if
you are a very formal person who needs proper everything to understand how to
do something, I would not recommend that you read any of my how-tos or any reasoning
behind why something is accomplished. My blog will be very colloquial.
I hope to
accomplish writing all of my posts with interest so that I can have all of you,
if not most, actually enjoy what I write about week to week. No promises
though. Each week I should have something fresh for you to read or even try at
home so that you don’t feel like you are reading and doing the same thing every
single time, but bear with me. This is my first blog so I do have to warn you,
it will be a little shaky. I can’t promise you’ll get what you are looking for
every time, but I will try my hardest to get there. I am open to any
suggestions so if you think of something you would like to start seeing in my
blog posts, I am open to any suggestions!:)
